Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Located in a strip mall off route 40 this local Mexican joint is as unassuming as they come. The inside is nothing to look at it as they say. But the food is definitely a step above your standard fare. The seafood soup was rich and creamy. Loads of potato and fresh shrimp. The spinach burrito was a masterpiece. However we could have done without the rich cream sauce. My combo fajitas were the weakest part of the meal as they were just OK. Too many onions, not enough meat. Now I will say that our waitress and he staff here were excellent and accommodating. My wife asks to try the Sangria and the waitress came out with a flight of all three to try. It's these little acts of kindness that go a far way these days. Next time I'm in the area I'll definitely stop by for a bite. Would I drive a car ways to come here ? Well, probably not considering we have great Mexican restaurants close by already (mi pueblo!). But I think this place does hold its own against the competition. It was clean which I'm a stickler for and the prices were very reasonable.

Sort of underwhelming. Very American Mexican. Tacos on flour tortillas..... Food came out fast. Everyone was very nice. It was packed on a Friday night. Brought my 3year old and infant no problems. If you're looking for authentic this isn't really the place. If you're looking for good, fast American Mexican this place would work for you.

My boyfriend and I were looking for some Mexican food for dinner and after reading the reviews of a few places decided to try here We were not disappointed. It was excellent!! The bar and the restaurant are separated which was nice, we chose the bar since they had some happy hour specials if you sat there. The staff was incredibly nice and we were seated and served chips right away. I ordered the burro Cortes which was amazing the steak was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I also had the red sangria and it was very nice and refreshing. My boyfriend got the tacos al pastor and also loved his meal. The sauce was great and again the meat was perfectly cooked. Can't wait to go back!

Love this place. Small authentic Mexican food. Good service. Must try the rolled chicken taquitos. Food is amazing.
(5)Lia B.
Delicious meals. Big portion, and nice service. The salsa and guacamole were fresh and definitely made in the house. However, the black beans tasted like canned beans. I ordered Texas Chimichanga and spouse ordered one of the house special, some roasted peppers with seafood filling.
(4)Jasmin N.
Everything was really good chicken chimichanga is what I ordered and it was awesome. If you like horchata they make great ones! Service was great as well and manager was super sweet!
(5)Jocelyn O.
Who needs Taco Bell when you want fast Mexican food, when you can just go here (and the food is better). About 5 minutes after we ordered, our food was ready. Great for a quick lunch during the work day. One con was that you only get one basket of chips, even if you order the appetizer of guacamole. If you want more, you get charged. To me, I think it should be unlimited chips and salsa at Mexican restaurants, but that wasn't the case here. The chicken enchiladas were pretty good.
(3)Melanie R.
I am increasing my review a star. I haven't been here in years, but after my misery with another competitor, decided to give this place another try. I was wowed with service. My chips never ran out, my salsa bowls were all over the table at everyone's grasp, and our drinks never went past the half way mark. My table had enchiladas, the chicken special, pork tamales, and rice/beans. Everyone really enjoyed their dish and we even added on guacamole because our neighboring ravel had some that looked good. This is pretty much Tex Mex...it's kind of heavy, saucy, and cheesy, but well done. Just commenting on Ellicott City Mexcian..this is the best we have.
(4)Rachel C.
Amazing fajitas! The service always on point, and they give you a very welcoming feel. The chips and salsa are great, and the food is very authentic.
(4)Fat T.
The service was excellent but the chicken was crazy tough like literally like a thick rubber band. It seemed like it was frozen chicken breast that was overcooked in the microwave. It was one of the few times in my life, I stopped eating in the middle of dinner. All else was ok but nothing to write home about. I'll probably stick with entrees with no meat here.
(3)Ankit P.
We waited almost 10 minutes at the front for the hostess to arrive and seat us. The service was also not great. They served us chips but forgot the salsa, and we had to ask atleast 5 times before they go it. The food i ordered was the shrimp diablo. The dish was supposed to be hot but it was sweet and for $17+ dollars they gave me 5 shrimps... Will not go there again
(2)Laura G.
We love pachangas! Amazing service as the food comes out very fast and hot. Chips and salsa are addicting. Prices are great and happy hour is even better.
(4)Jason F.
3 star Mexican place, but is 4 star compared to the local competition. I've been here multiple times, and would go back. Reason for the 3 stars? It's because this place is good, but far from great. They do have great specials though. Wednesday night is fajita night for $11 and it isn't skimpy either. The fajitas are probably the best thing I've had on the menu. Get the beef and/or shrimp -- chicken is eh. Chips and salsa come standard when you sit down, but on their menu it states $2 for a refill and $3.95 for a la carte chips/salsa. Odd. Usually they refill you for no fee though. Their combination menu items (enchilada, tacos, etc.) are all decent. However, the rice and beans are questionable. I agree with Frank L. that the rice I had last time did not seem fresh. Chicken mole was decent, but they just dump mole sauce on their fajita chicken strips. Lazy. The mole sauce could have been sweeter and less spice. The 1843 margarita was fantastic. I highly recommend. Their original margarita is good as well, but made with cheap tequila -- not worth the $1 savings. In conclusion, if you want some decent Mexican to satisfy a craving and want something better than Taco Bell, give this place a try as it is, for better or worse, one of the better Mexican places in Howard County.
(3)Kevin S.
Dinner was great and if they don't have it one the menu they will whip up anything you can think of. My favorite fajita nachos is awesome, i don't know why it's not a regular menu item. She had shrimp fajitas which smelled and looked awesome. Price was very reasonable..
(5)Jane K.
Service was too slow!!!!!!!!! We order burrito and fajita. Burrito is good. But fajita meat and vegetables were burnt. Waitress were not very attentive.
(2)Sergio P. T.
By accident and hunger we wound up here again. 2 years ago we stopped here since we were hungry and it looked to have good reviews. Must not demand lots of food taste and quality. If you have more than 3 stars. I'm Mexican and this place is not bad but it's certainly not the best. I'm Mexican and I could not tell that the chef was or had the skill for this type of cuisine. Salsa tasted like Pace Picante Sauce. No peppers used in my meal .
(2)Frank L.
The quest for good Mexican food continued in disappointing fashion tonight as we tried out Pachanga Cocina. I wanted to like this place! I really did. It's a short drive from my house and I had heard really good things about it. At the time of this writing it had a solid 4 stars on Yelp. But the short story is that the food was just bad Mexican food. I don't mean inedible or health code violation time, just bland and yuck. I'm gonna put it right out there that perhaps myself and the SO simply aren't the target audience for this place. We know good Mexican food. Seriously, why is fettuccine alfredo on the menu here (not the kids menu, but the full-on adult menu)? First, the good. The place was packed on a Saturday night. Lots of people enjoying themselves, very friendly staff, and they got us a table for 4 in about 15 minutes (right around what they estimated when we went on the list). Our server was great. Also on the good list: the portion sizes were very generous. The meh: Yeah, they were packed, but they "don't take reservations after 6pm" on Saturday nights. Whatever, a minor nit. Okay, the not so good: The food was not good. We got some standard fare. A couple of different types of burritos and some enchiladas off the kids' menu for the munchkins. Bland bland bland. Plus the black beans were undercooked, and I don't know what the deal was with the rice, but it sure wasn't made fresh. Is rice supposed to crunch? The S.O. says that her meal tasted like it came out of industrial can. The "filling" of my burrito was fine by itself. But everything else on my plate, the tortilla wrapping my burrito, the beans, and the rice itself was somewhere between undercooked and just plain funky. Bonus nasty: The margerita we got was very strong, but the tequila tasted cheap. Jose Cuervo it wasn't. Like I said. Maybe the SO and I just aren't the target audience for Mexican food. I really did want to like this place. I doubt we'll ever be back. The SO was pretty pissed off.

Came for Cinco de Mayo. Was my favorite non-chain mexican in the area. Parking was crazy as was the wait, but again it was Cinco de Mayo. When the food finally came, it was really good. Got a combination platter where the burrito came with verde sauce, the enchilada with mole sauce, and the taco shell did not fall apart like a Taco Bell shell does. Despite being a good 15 minute drive, I'll be back to try their happy hour and other options. The fishbowls seem interesting.
(4)Jennifer M.
The margaritas were good, I wouldn't say they were the best I had, but they were definitely good. The quesadillas were awesome, but they may be because I was really hungry, lol. We went to Pachanga's for Happy Hour to celebrate a friends birthday. They have outdoor seating, a bar section and i believe a restaurant section. We sat in the bar section which was a little tight for a large party, but I think in order to partake in HH you have to be on the bar side. It was still a good time, just a tight time. Parking is a bit interesting.....we parked in front of another business because there were no spaces available. Some folks were also parked on the side of the roadway to avoid parking in front of other establishments. The service was pretty quick especially with having to attend to so many people. I think I'd go back again, not definite....it's a little out of the way and the stupid GPS took us on a long cut instead of a short cut. If ever in the neighborhood, we would stop again.
(3)John C.
Dropped in here for lunch on a whim. Did not regret the decision. We will definitely be returning here.
(4)Carolyn C.
Great food! Amazing coconut margaritas! Awesome prices! Lovely service. =) Must go to spot.
(5)Anne B.
Got there little late around 9ish. The staff came out from one side of restaurants to take us to the table seemed very tired or just didn't appreciate late customers?? Anyway ordered myself pork enchiladas and California burritos, the Texas Chimichanga, Tomales and chicken fingers for my family. My pork enchiladas with green sauce was kinda salty for me, I ended up changing my plate with my hubby's Texas Chimichanga which was better than mine. Didn't get to taste burritos but it must have been good that it disappeared quick or my son was just hungry for the late dinner. Tomales was bit salty and dry too but it also had the same green sauce as my plate. It might be the sauce that was salty... Food came with rice and black beans, which rice was ok but I didn't like their black beans. We kind had to rush towards end since they start to putting chairs up. It could been nice if they could wait a little bit more since we was about done anyway. Overall food was ok beside mine.
(3)Philip D.
Fantastic food (shrimp and crab, pork, and chicken enchiladas are awesome). Very well stocked bar. Best Mexican food in Maryland that we've found.
(4)Eric L.
A very solid mexican restaurant. Not the best mexican of anywhere, but the large portions and fresh vegetables earn this high rating. The salsa is very good along with their fajitas, very well seasoned. The service was also very good. Not crazy about paying $2 for a second basket of chips.
(4)Becca R.
I clearly ordered the wrong thing, but it just shouldn't be on the menu it was that bad. I got the garden burrito because I'm vegetarian and I've had really good vegetable burritos at other restaurants, but this was literally a veggie platter that you'd get from the grocery store wrapped into a burrito. Very strange. Whole baby carrot sticks (still crisp), whole grape tomatoes (soggy), chopped celery (why chop that and nothing else?), and large chunks of broccoli. It was just bizarre. I've had plenty of good vegetarian mexican food, so I know it's possible, but this place doesn't get it. The chips and salsa were good. We got the spicy habanero salsa, and would definitely recommend it if you like it hot.

Pachanga's out did themselves tonight! This place has become our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. We've been to the others. We had the specials tonite: Paella and burrito blanco. Both dishes were aesthically pleasing, and a tasty, satisfying delight to eat. The blanco burrito is sliced chicken with mushrooms and onions with a white brandy sauce - best burrito I've ever had. He had the paella with a plate full of mussels, clams and shrimp. We're usually to full for dessert and we were tonite but we had the key lime pie - decadent! Service is great, friendly and welcoming. Great margarita selection. Thanks.

What a yummy place for a quick lunch. We've been desperate for some good Mexican food so we consulted Yelp during our most recent Ellicott City trip and this place was said to be the best option. They were right. Everything was fresh and hot and delicious. I had the Texas chimi which was so good but so heavy. Probably not the best choice for lunch prior to having to be productive but boy was it good. My mom had the Chesapeake chimi which was the antithesis of the Texas; it was fresh and light and more on par with a smart lunch selection. My son insisted on a hot dog. We tried to explain to him how great tacos were but I guess I should be glad they have lots of familiar options for picky kids. Also, the chips were tasty and warm and the salsa was most definitely fresh. The service was great, too. Thumbs up!
(4)Adele T.
I like to come here for lunch and appreciate how the bar is separate from the restaurant. The staff is friendly and lets you take your time. I am particularly fond of the fajitas and chimichangas. Also enjoy the flan and churros.
(5)Rick K.
Our group had the Texas Chimi's, and the Chesp Burritos. They where both very good. Large chunks of crab in the Burritos. Each dish came with rice, black beans, and salsa. Ice tea was excellent.

I never thought it'd be worth the 30 minute drive from the city out to the burbs for Mexican food. Pachanga Cocina has the pull -- authentic, big-portioned, affordable, delicious cuisine -- that'll quell any hesitation, questions, or concerns. I love the fact that there are daily specials and happy hour. I went with a group of friends on fajita night, when you can get a steak, chicken, shrimp, vegetable, or all of the above jumbo fajita for less than $12. It'll be huge and perfectly grilled. I was stuffed and satisfied. The highlight of this place is definitely the fantastic, impeccable service. Our server was extremely attentive, constantly checking up on us, clearing plates, filling up water, and catering to our table's needs. I was so impressed that night. Definitely check Pachanga Cocina out!
(4)Yaka H.
Pachanga Cocina offers various weekday specials that are a steal. Most of the food of the menu consists more of a Tex Mex, but there the Chef's specialties have more truer Mexican dishes. Definitely check out the weekly specials (Monday: All you can eat combos ($11.75), Tuesday: Steak ($12.95), Wednesday: Fajitas ($11.95), Thursday: Chimichangas ($9.95). There's also a free dessert special too). We started off our meal with chicken taquitos. They were a bit on the oily side, but edible. It was hard to eat though because we didn't receive any appetizer plates and our server was a bit MIA. SX and I came in on a Wednesday which is their Fajita weeknight special. Any of their fajita dishes for $11.95. I opted for the Fiesta Fajita which consisted of steak, chicken, and shrimp on a bed of onions and peppers, served on a sizzling platter. It also came with 3 soft flour tortillas, rice, black beans, pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole. It was pretty standard fare. The novelty of eating something off a sizzling platter is what makes it fun despite the lack of interesting flavor. SX opted for the pork chop special they had for the night. It was pork chops smothered with a mole sauce, served with rice and refried pinto beans. The sauce had great depth and flavor; it was the star of the dish. Parking here can be really tight.

Imma say my review is a 2.5... Here it go Location: off of Rte 40 in Ellicott City, fairly easy to spot from the road. However parking is just thee flippin pits. The inside where we sat (the bar) was small IMO. The dining room was a decent size. HH included half-price margaritas and apps. The margaritas were aiight. I have definitely had better. I tried the chicken, steak, and crab quesadillas. They were all kinda dry to me, a little under seasoned. I think you definitely need some salsa. I also tried the taquito those were alright, still barely seasoned. The service was so so, I think that she could have been a bit more attentive. Not sure I'll be going back.

This is a review update. The last one I left was great, but this one is better. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner last wednesday. Everything was amazing. Service, hospitality, food, bar drinks. This was the first time I'd tried their stuffed jalapeños.. and they were the best I have ever had. I mentioned to our waitress it was my BF'S birthday... and when we got our desserts there was a candle (trick candle!) in his fried ice cream ((also amazing)) they turned the lights out, sang, and put a big old sombrero on my BF. It made our night. Well, so did the fish bowl margaritas we ordered... they come in plastic containers that look like small fish bowls and they are garnished with fruit and a gummy fish. Super cute and super fun. Thanks pachanga, we're coming back to see you with his family this weekend.
(5)Jamie L.
My fiancé introduced me to this gem of a Mexican food place about a month ago. We have been in 3 times since. We sit at the bar or in the bar area and absolutely love it. They always have a current game on TV a fast, attentive and friendly bartender mixing up pitchers of margaritas along with other tasty drinks. We keep missing happy hour but if you can make it in time they have $12 margarita pitchers that actually pack some punch as well as lots of food specials. We order the same thing every time chips and salsa which are fresh delicious and complimentary! We add guacamole for our tortilla chips because they always execute it perfectly. Lastly we split the steak fajita. The meat and vegetables come out sizzling, well seasoned, and tender. This place is well hidden under the guise of a shopping mall but has true flare once you are inside. It's very casual and cozy. Couldn't recommend it any more highly for a fun girls night out or date night.
(5)Latise B.
Fresh, authentic, and delicious are just 3 words to describe Pachanga. If you have never stopped in to this place, you need to make it your highest priority to come in and have a meal. The staff is very friendly, the portions are large, and the food is simply delicious. This is among the best Mexican I have had in the area. They make a mean margarita here too. The Cadillac Margarita in the fish bowl is a sure fire winner and my favorite margarita possibly of all time. Prices are reasonable, service is good, and the food is great. Not much more you can ask for! Ask for Guadaloupe!
(4)Modyssey G.
First of all - make sure you have a designated driver before you come here. The margaritas at Pachanga are quite tasty, and my personal favorite is the fishbowl margarita! The food here is always fresh and I looove the Texas Chimichanga! The menu is a good balance of authentic Mexican cuisine and americanized Mexican food. I don't get hung up on that as long as the food is good, and yes, Pachanga has yummy food - even the salads are delish! If you have room for dessert after consuming fishbowl margaritas and plates of tasty food, check out the Tres Leches cake; it's so rich and delicious, it's almost sinful!
(4)Michelle A.
Pachanga is a local hole-in-the-wall, and I really want to give it three and a half stars, but alas I can't... I always think to go here when I want fast, reasonable Mexican. However, when I arrive, I'm always a tad disappointed because the lunch menu (which is when I usually head over this way) is limited. The staff is nice, and I love that it's never super crowded... and generally the restaurant is clean and the food I've had is fresh. But for me, there's just something missing. I think it's the fact that the lunch menu has burgers on it. And the arroz con pollo is a little dry. And the chips are a little stale sometimes. But to be fair- I need to come back and try some of the amazing margaritas other people have mentioned... and I will go back again for lunch, it's a good option if you're in the area.
(3)Kristen B.
Great food! I've tried just about everything on the menu and haven't been disappointed! Service is great.
(5)Tim Y.
Best Mexican in the area by far. Good guacamole? Check! Burritos, tacos, fajitas? Check! Authentic taquitos? Absolutely!! Plus happy hour is excellent here. Been a few times and satisfied every time I go back!
(5)Jay F.
Food here is some of the best american style mexican food you can find.
(5)Maggie S.
Our favorite Mexican restaurant. Quick service if you want it. I usually get the appetizer portion of the taquitos and can never eat it all. The meat it so juicy and tender.
(5)Nichole Y.
This is by far the best Mexican restaurant in the Ellicott City/Columbia area. The food is fresh and has great flavor. The specialty margaritas are made with fresh fruit and are really delicious. And two people can easily share a fishbowl margarita. Just want to clarify there are better Mexican restaurants in Bmore and such but this is the best in EC.
(5)Beth T.
This is by far the best Mexican restaurant around Ellicott City! I have been going to Pachanga for years and the food is consistently great. The margaritas, I prefer the 'La Flacca', are wonderful and fresh. They don't have that sickeningly sweet flavor that comes from a plastic mixer bottle. The service is exceptional and the decor is decent....I think the bar area has a bit more character though. Anytime I recommend Pachanga to someone I always get very positive reviews.
(5)Jen L.
They had horchata!!! So you know this is going to be good! All good authentic Mexican places have horchata. That's how they roll back in Chicago. The less English they speak the better the food. Well, they spoke good English here, but they had horchata!! We came here on a weds and they had a fajita special. Holy cow, for $12 you could probably get 2 meals out of it. The flavors of the carne asada was amazing and the tortillas tasted like they were homemade. Get a large table if you are doing the fajitas, its quite the spread! This is by far my favorite Mexican place in Maryland. It's all the way up in Baltimore on Route 40. But if I am in the mood for awesome Mexican food, this is the place to be.
(4)Bak M.
Great place to eat... Service is fantastic and the happy hour is out of this world..... Never shy on liquor for the Margaritas.
(5)Gina C.
Really good - had the cheese enchiladas and they were excellent. My husband's pork enchiladas were even better. Refried beans were delicious! Best Mexican food I've found in the area and I've tried a couple of authentic places in Gaithersburg - and this was better. I'll be back. The salsa wasn't fantastic - I think it's canned tomato, but other than that really good!
(4)Bing F.
While performing at a series of libraries on Baltimore, I Yelped this place near my campsite and visited twice during the week. Sort of a hybrid Mexican/Cosmopolitan joint, they nonetheless do authentic very well while also embracing some creative twists on the cuisine alongside offerings like pasta and such. On the first visit, I had the Chesapeake Burrito ($13.95) which had shrimp, crab, mushrooms, tomatoes, green peppers and onions, topped with ranchera, white sauces and Monterey Jack. It was a pleasant spin on the classic burrito and the shellfish was delicious, though some shrimp tail ended up in my wrap. The fishbowl margaritas are cute, served in a little plastic fishbowl, and they don't skimp on the tequila. On my second visit, I ordered off of the "especiales de la Casa" menu the Burrito Maria ($15.50) which tempted with spinach, artichokes, cheese, grilled chicken and garlic, topped with a white wine sauce and served with Mexican rice and beans. This was absolutely exquisite and I really enjoyed the flavors and texture. Service was friendly and fast; the music was wonderful (nabbed a couple of downloads via Shazam) and I'll most certainly be heading back there again!
(4)Standards H.
Half price pitchers of margaritas are well worth it for happy hour, a perfect mix of tart and tequila, and not too sweet. The service is good but the rest of the food is just average (maybe slightly above in some cases), however appropriately priced. The jalapeno poppers are large and very tasty however my experience the next day was enough to make me NEVER order them again (burning in places I don't want to be burning):/ This is definitely a place that deserves 3 1/2 stars but most certainly is shy of 4.
(3)Allen H.
My wife and I have twice here. The first time the service was below average and food was delivered almost cold. The waitress didn't come back for 15 minutes. We ate the food, witch was below average of all the Mexican food we have had. For the meals, the portions were also below average for Mexican food . The second meal we had at chants seemed better than the first, except the beer was warm. I asked them. For a replacement, which they said all of the Dos XX,s were the same way. I asked for a glass of ice, which was provided and of course watered the beer down. After I had been home for a while I started with severe cramps and started vomiting. I resolved myself that this place does not deserve my patronage, and I have e not and will not ,return there. I gave it a one star because it doesn't come close to the Mexican restaurants I have eaten in (comparing price, quantity & service).both quantity
(1)Phil S.
We just moved to the area and tried Mi Casa and then Pachanga on recommendations from neighbors. Pachanga is the go-to place for my wife and I. The food quality is excellent and the prices are great. Their weekly specials are very good also. My wife likes the taquitos and I like their Chimichanga and quesadillas.
(4)Hoyt H.
Service was friendly, place was clean. As far as the food goes, the ingredients were all fresh, but everything we tried was totally bland. Everything needed more salt, pepper, herbs, spices! Not sure if we'll be back...
(3)Drew B.
The "new" rules of the restaurant have ruined the once enjoyable place this used to be! It was so bad, we paid for our drinks and went to Mi Casa down the street to eat! They at least appreciate the money you spend! After eating there for over a year, we'll never go back!!
(1)Rob N.
I'm gonna be the dissenter here. Pachanga is very similar to La Palapa in old town EC in selection and execution. The food's OK, but it's not the OMGZ bestest Mexican around. Salsa was flavor-challenged, with what tasted like canned tomatoes. The beef in my Burro Cortes was a little gristly, which is OK with long, slow cooking. However, this meat hadn't enough braising/stewing time to break down the connective tissue. Also, the menu stated it was stewed with red wine, but that flavor was markedly absent. Black beans were tasty and seasoned nicely (good beans go a long way to redeeming a Tex-Mex place in my book), and the Mexican rice was about average. Service is good and prices are acceptably reasonable.
(3)P B.
A very pleasant surprise! Chesapeake chimi rocked! My wife loved her California Burrito too.
(4)Timothy A.
Don't be fooled. This place looks like a cheap-o Mexican restaurant wannabe from the outside. It's really much better than that! They have happy hour at the bar from 4-7 PM (Only at the bar), with 1/2 price margaritas, beers, and appetizers! Mmmm. The margaritas are pretty good, so if you're in the mood, go for one! But, if you come here, YOU NEED TO GET THE CHIMICHANGAS! The Texas Chimichanga and the Pachanga Chimichanga are both excellent dishes. Keep in mind that the portions are humongous, so you might want to loosen your belt. Just as a little historical review, the two owners of this place have opened a whole host of restaurants, some of which you may have heard of. The restaurants they have opened include: El Azteca in Clarksville, La Palapa Grill and Cantina in Historic Ellicott City, Pachanga Grill in Odenton, and Broadneck Grill in Annapolis. All of them have been very successful, but this seems to be one of their lesser known spots (though it gets quite busy on the weekends). Pachanga Cocina opened in '07, and has been around since. They have a variety of specials for the days of the week which I'll outline here: Mon: All you can eat combos ($11.75) Tues: Steak ($12.95) Wed: Fajitas ($11.95) Thur: Chimichangas ($9.95) Eat well!

Food is good as always. We were able to get in and out in relatively short order. We took advantage of Monday "All You Can Eat" special. Just as good as its sister restaurant - El Azteca - in Clarksville.

Wonderful food! Soups were very tasty. Chimichangas were delightfully lite and stuffed with chicken and seafood. Staff was very friendly Have been back two times!!

The margaritas were good. the taquitos would be better if they were crispy

I'm from Texas, so I know good Mexican/ Tex-Mex food. While not every single thing at Pachanga is incredible, many dishes are. The steak fajitas have amazing flavor. The steak quesadillas are also very good (and all apps are half price M-F from 4-7, bar only.) My husband has had a steak there that he loved also. Seems like steak is a theme here! The waitstaff are very nice, food is good quality. We go fairly often and I recommend it.

Just like Mark said, this is the best Mexican place in the area (that I've found). It's a little out there, but the food is good. From the chips & salsa all the way to desert. We've had bad luck with the flan at some places and this place does it good. I liked it a lot. The chips and salsa was good - the only thing I would add would be some queso dip on the menu to compliment them (when you don't want a big appetizer). The enchiladas were a little spicy, but still very good. The steak taco was magnificent. It makes me want to get another steak dish the next time I visit. Definitely go here if you like Mexican.

Great chicken mole and tacos al pastor. The Chesapeake burrito is worth checking out. Pretty good margaritas. It's probably not the best Mexican restaurant you'll ever eat at but it's outstanding Mexican food if you're stuck in the Baltimore 'burbs. The staff is great. Can be busy on Saturday night.

I've been trying so hard to find a great Mexican place in the Ellicott City area so when my husband saw Pachanga Cocina while driving by and we decided to try it out. I ordered the chile relleno and pork tamale and my husband had the pork burrito. The chile relleno was a raw pepper with semi-melted cheese and the tamale was mostly masa with a couple pieces of pork. My husband enjoyed his burrito and the rice and beans were good but we've definitely had better for way cheaper...

omg... get the flan

This is my second time at Pachanga and i cant say im too impressed. Typical average Mexican restaurant. Chips and salsa in the beginning and unsatisfactory margaritas. Our waitress was nice but an appetizer we ordered was never brought out without any explanation. Average enchiladas and chimichanga, and the black beans tasted like they were right out of a can. Nothing special. "Meh I've experienced better" sums it up.

My family and I have been going to Pachanga for years now. We started off with playing it safe and just getting quesadillas and fajitas but we were selling this place short! The salsa and chips are always fresh and it's a nice salsa that has a home made taste and is chunky enough for chips. When we talked to the manager we found out that Pachanga actually gets some ingredients flown in from Mexico and their mole sauce is unique because of it. We ventured out and tried different items from the menu anything with seafood was delicious and had generous portions of real and fresh seafood. The California burrito is a huge burrito but great price for such a big quantity. You really can't go wrong here and the wait staff is always there to give you suggestions on what to order. Yolanda is the owner and she is super sweet and will usually stop by to ask how your meal is. If you are looking for good Mexican food in ellicott city.. Come here! They also own la palapa as well

I really like this place. The people in here are sooo nice. It is often quite busy but never overwhelmingly so and the service is quick and efficient. I always get exactly what I ordered and it's always good; good portions, good flavor, great margaritas.

I will start out by saying that I am vegan, and this place is very accommodating! They make a delicious black bean chimichanga and have amazing rice. I would also highly recommend the vegetable fajitas! The vegetables are perfectly seasoned and delicious. Also ask about there desserts! Some of them are made there. We got their 3 milk cake and it was amazing! The food here is worth every penny, I would highly recommend to anyone! I will really miss this place when I move :(

So we've been here a few times. The food is great especially the stuffed peppers(spicy). However, we were really disappointed to come back a week ago and find a new menu with hiked up prices. Im sorry two tacos for $13?? Really is a shame when restaurants do this. And the service was bad too, which it used to be great! Unfortunately we will only be ordering the specials from now on or may just find a new place.

Don't let the appearance fool you. I can't believe how good the food was!! Definitely worth a trip back to try more of the menu options. The Chesapeake Burrito was amazing! I LOVE the Peach Margarita. And you can't go wrong with fresh Chips & Salsa!!

Definitely the best Mexican food in the area. The chips and salsa are delicious, the fajitas are great, they have specials pretty much every night, and the service is wonderful. It's not the best Mexican food EVER, but compared to the other places in the area, it hits the spot.

This is great mexican food. This chips and salsa are great, and freshly made. Try the Enchiladas Del Toro if you like steak, cheese, and spices. I get it almost every time.

Yea, I really like this place. I think it is more because of the people that work there. The are pleased to please. The food is very good and the combo night special is amazing. Eat all you want . Try one of everything they offer on the combo menu. This is close to my home and I go there often. No regrets. It is tasty.

I had high hopes for this restaurant. The prices are high. The food is very average. Baskets of chips cost $2.00 after the first one is brought to the table. The quality vs. value does not seem to be here.

WOW! Great friendly service, great atmosphere, great drinks. The food is amazing, I get nervous about trying new Mexican restaurants, because sadly there is simply a lack of good real Mexican restaurants, this place however goes above and beyond with simply prepared and excellently executed down home Real Mexican food. If you like spicy ask for a side of the habanero salsa, hotter than Hades but very, very tasty. Ahh, I can't wait to go back, mmmmm!

Yum! I got the fajitas which were pretty standard. My fiance got carnitas (wasn't called carnitas on the menu, can't remember the name). and it was delicious! Although I'm not usually in that part of town, I definitely would try to make an excuse.

Go there if you want great food .

Great food, good value...eat here every Friday

My husband and I LOVE Mexican food, but are always nervous about trying a new location since there's some really crap ones around... Don't let the odd location fool you, this place is fantastic!!! I had the Chesapeake Chili Rellenos (Chili Rellenos with Crab and Shrimp), and my husband had Chile Verde that he was practically drooling over! The Cadillac Margaritas were pretty good too. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area!

One of the best Mexican restaurants around!! I love everything from the chips and salsa to the entree to the dessert. Yummy! Very reasonably priced and good service. My daughter even chose to have her birthday dinner there last year. Great choice of places! Oh, and they did take a reservation from us, too.

Best Mexican restaurant in the area! Food is delicious and the service is very good.

A good place to go for a casual meal. Try the burritos. The servers are very friendly and you can be in and out real quick. Good price as well. Fishbowl margaritas are also a solid choice.
(4)Katy H.
Great food, great service - good place for kids or date night! We had the fajitas (yum!) and margarhitas, the house margarita was good, but if you upgrade it is out of this world (sorry! can't remember the name of the premium margarita!)

This restaurant is ok, we mainly go here because it is close to our house. I always get the soft chicken tacos and my husband gets the tacos al carbon. I have been upset with the service the past few times we have been their and after the way the servers were acting with my family and I tonight I will never go back their again until they are gone. My absolute favorite Mexican restaurant is in Brooklyn park. It is called El Salto. Their food is truly authentic. To me it is worth the drive for a great mexican meal and friendly service.
